30 Donations Near Completion

Newtongrange star donationMelville has made the 27th contribution as part of its '30 donations for 30 years' initiative, marking the organisation’s 30th anniversary.

The latest £500 donation has been awarded to Newtongrange Star Football Club to help support the club’s work supporting grassroots sport and delivering a wide range of community initiatives in the local area.

In addition to its first team, Newtongrange Star runs a number of community-focused and player development programmes, including support for its Under-20s Development Team, a growing Community Football Club with both boys’ and girls’ teams, and facilities for Walking Football participants.

The club is also actively involved in a range of activities within the village. These include supporting local schools through coaching and access to facilities, hosting football sessions for pupils from Newtongrange Primary School, working with Midlothian Active Schools to deliver local events, and organising the football tournament at the local Gala.

Beyond football, the club contributes to a variety of wider community initiatives, such as participating in the 'Pit to Pitch' exhibition at the National Mining Museum, organising voluntary litter-picking efforts around Welfare Park, and continuing the long-standing tradition of laying a wreath at the Welfare Park war memorial.

Much of this work is delivered on a voluntary basis by members of the club, reflecting its strong commitment to supporting the local community.

Melville’s £500 contribution will help support these ongoing initiatives and the continued development of football and wider activity within Newtongrange.

The donation forms part of Melville’s year-long anniversary campaign, through which the organisation is making 30 contributions to groups and organisations. With 27 now completed, three further donations will be announced in the coming weeks.
